21st April 2018...Sheep in the Shade!!!!

Finally...some lovely weather...just when we headed back to work!!! As it is a sunny Saturday, we decided that house and school work could wait, and we'd head down to Furness Abbey.....

Lots of Herdies in the fields, searching for shade....

...and it would be rude not to join in with National Tea Day!!!

Thanks Abbey Mill!!

Glorious down here today!!

And the first 'glorious' wedding photo from the start of the season...

I was finally taken to Yew Tree Barn last week- every other member of my close family have been there and have been raving about it but it's always been just off the 'beaten track' of where we were going. The 55th birthday finally took me there....

...there is a lot of interesting 'recycled' stuff to browse through, as well a their own style of gift shop....

...and a smithy!

It is well-worth a trip out there!

Talking of birthdays, everyone was so kind with their birthday wishes and gifts......people know me so well!!!! Might get a view of our blog from Antigua today.....

...keep in touch everybody!!

8th April, 2018...Family on Home Ground!!

Phew! That was an intense few weeks at the end of term. Lots of school and home events, and even an event combining the two!! After a few drizzly days in the Lakes, we headed down to.....

...a drizzly Furness Abbey!!

There are some signs of spring, but the weather is still playing catch-up!!

Plenty of water around too!!

And we had the chance to sample Jackie's delicious new recipe parsnip cake...

It went down a treat!!

Raining or not though, the Lake District is always lovely.....

...and we did stay in one of our favourite hotels...

...and we've found a brand new café of choice in Windermere....

......HomeGround...excellent breakfasts!!

Lovely couple of days chilling out with some of our favourite people....

...bit of a Greengate Family event to end the term too...yes- that's my sis and mother in the corner!!

We always seem to end up at Lakeland Motor Museum in the rain...here's my mother showing off with a Ford Sierra Cosworth- the car my brother coveted all through his teens and beyond!!

And the SteveHillman photograph that everyone seems to be raving about!!
